The Range Rover SV has gone fully dark. The flagship SUV’s top trim now comes in a special Black edition. If you like your big luxury SUVs with a dose of stealth, this one might be your thing. This reveal makes it the third new all-black model from Land Rover in recent weeks, after the Defender Octa Black and Range Rover Sport SV Black.
They’re clearly on a black-out spree. The SV Black is aimed at buyers who want the most premium Range Rover but with a sinister twist inside and out.
Black Outside, Black Inside
First thing you’ll see is the new paint. Land Rover calls it Narvik Gloss Black. They say it’s the darkest shade ever put on a Range Rover. Everything else follows the theme. Logos, grille, giant 23-inch alloys, brake calipers — all blacked out. You won’t find shiny chrome here.
Inside, the cabin sticks to the mood. Ebony leather everywhere. The seats come with a special diagonal stitching pattern on the upper half. The centre console gets a black birch wood touch. Even the gearshift lever has a satin-black ceramic finish. Little things but they build the vibe.
Music You Can Feel
One of the coolest bits is what they’ve done with sound. The SV Black edition comes with what Range Rover calls BASS — Body and Soul Seat. It’s not just a fancy name. The system uses hidden transducers in the seats and floor. When you play music, you don’t just hear it. You feel it. Vibrations sync with the sound, adding an extra layer to your road trip playlist.
They’ve added the Sensory Floor too. That means your feet get in on the action. This tech is now standard on all SV trims. Small detail, big bragging rights.
Power Still Comes From BMW
Under all that black, the Range Rover SV Black edition keeps its beastly heart. The 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 is borrowed from BMW. It churns out 615hp and 750Nm. All that power hits all four wheels through an 8-speed automatic.
Plant your foot and this big luxury barge can hit 100kph from a standstill in just 4.5 seconds. Not bad for something that weighs as much as your neighbour’s entire garage.
Black For India?
Right now, there’s no official word on when the SV Black edition will hit Indian roads. Land Rover says it will show off this mean machine at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK. India already gets special editions like the Ranthambore and Masara, so it won’t be a surprise if this new one comes here too.
For now, buyers in India can keep fingers crossed. Or book tickets to Goodwood to see it up close.
