KTM’s Adventure family just got a fresh update, and the 2025 KTM 390 Adventure X is right at the heart of it. The X variant has always been the entry ticket for riders who want a touring bike with that KTM spirit but don’t need all the bells and whistles of the standard 390 Adventure.
With this update, KTM has made sure the Adventure X stays true to its roots — affordable, practical and now, even more loaded than before.
Looks More Adventure-Ready
One quick look and you’ll notice the 2025 390 Adventure X looks way more authentic as an ADV machine. The older model had a styling that split opinions. This time, KTM stuck to the proven design of the standard Adventure.
It keeps that semi-fairing, the classic beak-style fender and the tall clear visor. The vertically stacked LED headlamp adds purpose to the front, and the tail section stays slim for that ready-for-anything feel.
Buyers get two colour choices — Ceramic White or Electronic Orange. Both look sharp and shout KTM from a mile away. If you love that KTM pop on trails or highways, you’ll like this one.
Packed With More Features
The biggest jump is in the electronics department. The old 390 Adventure X was pretty basic. This new one packs some serious upgrades.
First up, you get full LED lighting all around. The projector headlamp looks premium and works well in the dark. The big news is the addition of a bi-directional quickshifter. That means clutchless upshifts and downshifts — a huge plus when riding twisties or bad roads.
It also comes with ride-by-wire throttle for smoother response and off-road ABS to help when things get slippery. The cockpit looks better too. The older simple console is gone. In its place is a new five-inch H50 TFT colour cluster with Bluetooth and turn-by-turn navigation. Hook up your phone and you’re sorted for any ride plan.
Updated Engine Means More Punch
Under that adventure-ready skin, the new 390 Adventure X borrows the same 399cc LC4c engine as the latest 390 Duke. This liquid-cooled single-cylinder makes 45.3bhp at 8,500rpm and 39Nm at 6,500rpm. Plenty for long highway runs and light trails.
Power goes through a six-speed gearbox that feels slick and works well with the quickshifter. For an entry-level ADV, that’s a solid motor with enough grunt to keep things fun.
Better Suspension, Better Control
The new Adventure X rides on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels wrapped in Apollo Tramplers. These tyres offer decent grip for mixed riding conditions. The suspension has improved too.
The bike now gets 43mm WP Apex USD forks at the front and a preload-adjustable rear monoshock. The front suspension travel goes up to 200mm, while the rear gets 205mm — a clear step up from the old bike’s 170mm.
This means the new Adventure X can handle rougher roads and mild off-road tracks with more confidence. Braking hardware has been tweaked too, with axially-mounted callipers to offer better bite when you need it most.
Stays Affordable
At Rs. 2.91 lakh ex-showroom, the 2025 KTM 390 Adventure X is only Rs. 8,000 more than the older version. For all the extra kit you get, that’s a good deal.
For riders looking at bikes like the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, this KTM makes a strong case. It’s lighter, more road-friendly and packs more tech at a similar price.
