Hyundai Ioniq 6 N Unveiled at Goodwood – Quicker, Sharper, and Sportier Than the Ioniq 5 N

Hyundai is doubling down on high-performance EVs, and its latest showcase — the Ioniq 6 N — has made a stunning debut at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Built on the same E-GMP platform as the Ioniq 5 N, the Ioniq 6 N adds more speed, sharper dynamics, and race-inspired styling. It also became the fastest Hyundai EV yet to climb the Goodwood hill, stealing the spotlight from its already-impressive sibling.

Here’s a complete breakdown of what makes the Ioniq 6 N special and whether India might get a taste of this high-performance electric sedan.

Ioniq 6 N – Outruns the Ioniq 5 N

While both the Ioniq 6 N and Ioniq 5 N use the same dual-motor, all-wheel-drive setup producing 650 hp and 770 Nm, Hyundai has fine-tuned the Ioniq 6 N for a quicker launch and more top-end grunt.

Key performance upgrades:

  • New motor magnets and better thermal management with a 7kWh coolant heater
  • 0–100 km/h in 3.2 seconds (Ioniq 5 N does it in 3.4 seconds)
  • Top speed: 257 km/h, an improvement over the Ioniq 5 N’s 250 km/h

This makes the Ioniq 6 N Hyundai’s quickest production EV to date.

Handling Focus: Built for the Enthusiast

The Ioniq 6 N is more than just straight-line speed. Hyundai has fine-tuned the car’s chassis for sharper handling and more engaging dynamics.

Chassis and suspension highlights:

  • Electronically controlled dampers
  • Rear limited-slip differential
  • Lower centre of gravity than the Ioniq 5 N
  • Wider track by 60mm, improving grip and stability
  • 275-section Pirelli P Zero tyres wrapped on 20-inch wheels

It also retains N performance tech like:

  • N Drift Mode for sideways fun
  • N Grin Boost for a 10-second power surge
  • Artificial gearshifts and engine sounds to mimic an ICE sports car experience

Aggressive N Styling With a Purpose

Design-wise, the Ioniq 6 N looks every bit like a performance EV. While the base Ioniq 6 already has a unique silhouette, the N version turns things up a notch with:

  • Lower front nose and large mesh grille
  • Aerodynamic winglets and air curtains
  • Massive rear wing for added downforce
  • Flared arches and wider stance

Inside, the cabin follows a sportier vibe with:

  • All-black and grey interior theme
  • N-specific seats, pedals, and steering wheel
  • Subtle use of contrast stitching and performance branding

It still retains the twin-screen layout seen on the standard Ioniq 6, offering a futuristic cockpit with race-inspired tweaks.

Is the Ioniq 6 N Coming to India?

As of now, Hyundai has not confirmed if the Ioniq 6 N will be launched in India. The brand had earlier showcased the pre-facelift Ioniq 6 at the 2023 Auto Expo, signaling interest in introducing its global EVs to Indian buyers.

However, considering the Ioniq 5 N hasn’t launched in India either, and the niche demand for high-performance EVs in the country, the Ioniq 6 N may remain a global-only offering for the time being.

That said, if Hyundai sees growing demand for premium EVs with performance DNA, there’s a chance we might see a limited-run CBU (Completely Built-Up) launch, just like how the standard Ioniq 5 was initially introduced in India.
