KTM 390 Enduro R Export Spec Launched in India at Rs 3.54 Lakh

KTM fans got a little surprise this month. After launching the India-spec 390 Enduro R, KTM faced some heat from riders who didn’t like the toned-down suspension. So, what did they do? They brought in the export-spec bike too. And it’s finally here at Rs 3.54 lakh ex-showroom.

If you’re serious about off-road riding and want that full travel, you now have the option. And it’s not a massive jump in price either. Just Rs 15,000 more than the Indian version. Not bad if you care about going deeper into the wild.

What Makes It Different

The big talking point is suspension travel. The India-spec version trimmed it down to 200mm at the front and 205mm at the rear. It made sense for most buyers who wanted a more accessible seat height. But for the hardcore crowd, that felt like a step back.

Now, the export-spec bike fixes that. It brings back the full 230mm suspension travel at both ends. That’s the real deal if you plan to hit big bumps, trails and rough terrain. With that, the seat height goes up too. It’s now 895mm compared to 860mm on the India bike. So shorter riders might find it a stretch, but it’s worth it for pure off-road ability.

Ground clearance also jumps from 253mm to 277mm. So you’ll clear bigger rocks and deeper ruts without worrying about scraping the underbelly.

Same Core, More Capability

Apart from suspension, it’s pretty much the same bike. The KTM 390 Enduro R still runs on the KTM 390 Adventure’s platform. Think of it as a stripped-back version. No big windscreen, no fancy fairing. Just the basics you need to have fun in the dirt.

It comes with Mitas EO7 Enduro Trail+ tyres. Good for mixed riding if you plan to hop between trails and tarmac. Fuel tank is a small 9-litre unit. Not huge, but enough for a day’s adventure run.

The engine stays untouched. You get the same 399cc single-cylinder that makes 46hp and 39Nm. Plenty of punch for trails and back roads. The bike weighs in at 177kg kerb, so you won’t feel like you’re dragging a big ADV through tight forest trails.

Worth The Extra Money?

For just Rs 15,000 more, you get the full-blown suspension setup. For many riders, that alone is worth the extra spend. Some will still prefer the India version with its lower seat height. It’s more practical for city commutes and light trails. But if you crave the full Enduro vibe, this is the one to pick.

It’s good to see KTM listening to its core audience. The 390 Enduro R might not be a hardcore Enduro in the true sense, but it’s close enough for those who want something capable yet manageable.
