Maruti Suzuki is set to take its popular compact crossover a step further with a possible Fronx Hybrid variant in the pipeline. Recent test mules spotted on Indian roads suggest that the Fronx could soon benefit from an electrified powertrain, likely based on the Smart Hybrid system currently seen in export-spec Dzire models.
With buyers growing more fuel-conscious and government norms gradually pushing for lower emissions, this move could significantly boost the Fronx’s appeal — especially among urban commuters and daily drivers.
Smart Hybrid Tech Expected
The most probable setup for the Fronx Hybrid will be Maruti’s tried-and-tested Smart Hybrid system, which pairs the regular 1.2L K-Series petrol engine with an integrated starter generator (ISG) and a small lithium-ion battery. This mild-hybrid configuration:
